English Listening and Reading Test for Grade 9

Listening Section

Part 1: You will hear five different people speaking. Identify where each person is based on the clues:

• Options: Gym, Restaurant, Hospital, Cinema, Airport, Beach, School
• Example: Someone ordering chicken soup and water – likely at a restaurant.

 

Part 2: Listen to a recording about Ali’s trip to Musandam and answer the following questions in brief:

• Who did Ali go with last month?
• Where did they go first?
• What did they take from Dibba?
• How far is Khasab from Dibba?
• How did Ali feel about the trip?

Reading Section

Part 1: Match each short text with one of the pictures:

• Texts relate to hobbies and activities like skating, board games, photography, and computer use.

Part 2: Read a passage about healthy vs unhealthy food choices and answer multiple choice questions such as:

• What is raw meat?
• What should we check before buying food?
• What leads to unhealthy habits like watching TV and eating junk food?
• What health risks are linked to overweight and diabetes?

Part 3: Read a text about a first cinema experience and answer related questions about the story and feelings described.

Summary

This test assesses both listening comprehension and reading skills suitable for Grade 9 students. The listening section covers practical active listening in daily contexts, while reading involves understanding texts and answering comprehension and vocabulary questions.

Students are encouraged to practice active listening and careful reading to perform well in such assessments.
